Enter The Unicorn
Business is a crazy space.
Most of the time you’re trying a bunch of ideas, putting your creativity to the test, sometimes even feeling like you’re kicking dirt around.
But every now and then you come across a unicorn,
Below is one of my unicorns. I’ve had $500 days before but nothing like this,
In 19 days, I made a whopping $82,000!
I felt like this guy,
I was selling about 600-800 shirts/hoodies a day and had about 140 or so running campaigns. I’m sure I could have reduced the cost if I was more stringent on checking everything but I was too busy just building, building and building and monitoring the CTR’s/frequencies of my ads.
On the 03/19/2014 sales started to die out for the country I was selling it in so I frantically started selling in other countries. I found success in many of the Europian/South American and even Oceanic countries. Some that worked real well were,
I even translated it using onehourtranslation.com and it still worked in some countries!
If you’re having a lot of success with your design(s), and you haven’t tested other countries I highly recommend doing so. It takes some time to figure out which ones are more profitable but you never know until you try and once you find out which ones work, the scale-ability on working designs will become much bigger.
How Did This Even Happen?
This isn’t my first attempt at this business. Actually, I got started with Internet Marketing in 2013 and saying it’s been a struggle is an understatement.
I remember working non stop 12+ hours hardly eating, hardly sleeping.
It was like I was figuring out a whole new world. Nothing made sense but everything seemed so appealing.ww
I didn’t care about anything apart from making it in this business.
As I continued, I came across random profitable campaigns that kept me going. Some brought in $20/day, some $300/day.
In the process I had gone from knowing absolutely nothing to knowing enough to make a dint in the industry.
Being successful in Affiliate Marketing consists of a few different things.
You gotta work hard, that’s a fact. The more you know, the bigger distance you create between yourself and the rest of your competition. Eventually you reach a space not many people are in and that’s when you kill it.
The other factor is luck. I didn’t want to say it but I had to. It’s not your average luck like the Lottery though. This is luck you work hard for.
What do I mean by that?
Luck in affiliate marketing is doing the right thing at the right time and having the right skills and resources to capitalise on it.
When I found my unicorn, I knew the very basics of design, how to set up basic campaign on FaceBook and a general idea of internet marketing. But, that was enough to capitalise on what I had found.
I was in the right place at the right time and had the skills to make it big.
Looking back, I could have probably made triple that but that just goes to show how much I have to learn in this industry.
Want to Make it Big in Teespring?
Every now and then I’ll see a monster campaign on Teespring or some other custom merchandise platform. I know it’s possible again with the right mindset and focus.
Frankly, Teespring for me, is not a full-time income model. It’s not something you can rely on to make money every single time. It’s something you do in hopes you’ll get a massive bank balance boost. A big campaign like mine will have you satisfied for a year.
If you want to do what I did, read all steps before you begin,
Step 1 – Preparation
Mentally prepare yourself for the sheer amount of work and determination required ahead.
This is not easy. In fact, no business idea I can think of is easy at the start. If anyone says it is, be very cautious.
I’m not writing this post to give hope to lazy people who dabble in businesses here and there. Who give it a part-time focus.
I’m writing it for the hustlers. Those that take this seriously and keep going no matter what. You guys are the ones that deserve it and are going to get there, I promise you.
I also have to be honest and say Teespring in particular, is a tough nut to crack. It’s getting increasingly harder to find these but I always come across someone who is currently killing it.
Step 2 – Research
Before You Start Designing ideas out of the blue, you need to know what the proven process of Teespring is.
You can take the time to learn this yourself by trial and error or you can download the below book I wrote for my friends that wanted to get started. It goes through the entire process of,
- How I found a winning idea
- Exact targeting on FaceBook
- Design Process
- Scaling to $3,000 Profit
It’s a lot of information so I decided to make it a PDF. Feel free to share it around!
If you don’t know what Teespring is, go to Teespring.com and familiarise yourself with the concept.
Basically you come up with the designs for the prints that go on the merchandise.
You bring in the sales and they’ll go manufacture, print, and deal with customer support. This is not like eBay.
You have to bring in the traffic and make sales. They’re just a clever manufacturing company that will handle everything else.
Step 3 – Now you Need to Build your Skills.
What skills am I talking about?
Marketers know a plethora of things that the common man, (or woman), doesn’t.
They know how to outsource, using basic photoshop, coding, website design, how to use paid marketing platforms to get traffic, how to network, etc.
Luckily, you just need to
know master 2 of these right now.
Design & Marketing
I made a tonne of videos covering these topics and they’re all free and available to everyone on YouTube. They can be accessed here. The page has over 2,000 shares!
Go through them. Twice.
I have a course for serious Teespringers that goes through every aspect of Teespring you can imagine. But that’s for another day. Right now you need to just read and learn.
Step 4 – Start Launching
Get your feet wet. use the free videos to build your own campaign.
You can contact me here if you have any specific questions about your campaign.
You can only learn by putting money to the test. That’s another fact in this business.
When I say ‘learn’, I mean learn forever. Sure, you can read things from here and there but it won’t stick with you for ever. You’ll forget it after a week or two.
But, lessons you learn from losing/making money are different. These stick with you for a long time. This is why I spend every time I want to learn. I’ll spend on research tools, eBooks, traffic, traffic softwares, plug ins to make my life easier.
Some will be garbage, but some will give me a competitive advantage that will boost my revenue.
When you’re ready, build some campaigns and start advertising on FaceBook.
Step 5 – Networking
Get connected to different communities.
Forums are good, Teespring FaceBook groups are also good.
For now, just go to FaceBook and search Teespring groups. Join a few that have the most members. They’re great to get some information in to what everyone is doing and generally keep in touch with the industry.
Teespring is like a drug. The profits keep you addicted to the chase and over time the skills you learn will allow you to game the online marketing world.
I recommend everyone to give it a shot, it’s well worth the learnings and everyone who’s determined enough will make themselves a nice profit.
Thanks for reading.

Incoming search terms:
- affengineer teespring 19 days
That’s a huge number for me. It’s almost 4 times as much as I used to earn as an engineer. I remember when reading threads and case studies of people hitting big numbers, it would all seem so far-fetched. Just 8 months into affiliate marketing I’m hitting similar numbers! Truly amazing feeling.
So What Actually Happened?
Ok, now for the details.
I have 2 main campaigns that keep performing well for me. One’s a CPA offer on Maxbounty I’m promoting via popups ion 50Onred, the other is a teespring campaign that keeps doing well over and over again. I’m not using facebook so there’s not as much risk of market saturation hence it’s continual success.
The other campaigns that are working well are little, $10-$20/day campaigns on Shareasale that I’m also promoting with Google. Usually, this mixture of 4-6 profitable campaigns are performing ok and as you can see by my stats have been bringing me a good $100-$200/day in average.
Woooooooooo New Record Day!
Wow, I hit $376.87 U.S, (profit) On Wednesday! (01/22/2013)
That’s about $410 Aussie Dollars which is crazy! It’s well above what I’ve ever made in my life in a single day and the funniest thing is I made most of it while I was asleep LOL.
I think I’ll make a new section for my blog called ‘records’ and every time I beat my record, I’ll blog about it and say what I think contributed to the new number. let’s look at it as a mini monthly report.
I know personally, the most beneficial types of posts for me were the ones where the blogger would speak about what he did to contribute to his achievements, as specifically as possible. So here goes,
What I did Differently
Teesprings: I’m yet to blog about this awesome website but basically you can design your own custom tees, hoodies and tops in general and sell them on a revenue share basis. You can set the price of your product and market it via pretty much anything. The customization ability pretty much makes opportunities with this unlimited!
